Belfast Fashion Week SS14

Afternoon y’all. Can I have a whoop, whoop for Friday! And an even bigger whoop, whoop for the weekend πŸ™‚ I’ve kind of felt like today was Saturday all day, as I was out last night! What????? On a week night??? Yes, yes I was. Not only was I out, but I was out for dinner AND at a fashion show. Now, not just any old fashion show but the Best of the HIGH STREET at the West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK in Belfast. And, it was a fabulous night. Really great, girly, pretty glam – food, bubbles and clothes – what more would a girl want really?!

2014 marked the 10th year of FASHIONWEEK and the HIGH STREET night is always hugely popular. So, whenΒ I got wind of the dates and tickets being available I didn’t hang about! (Oh, the joys of blogging!) The show had sold out weeks in advance, so myself and my 3 little amigos – Fiona, Heather and Mandy, were delighted to be there!

1011269_10150384995134957_19042206_nWe kicked off our night with dinner at CafΓ© Conor ….. absolutely delicious! If you are live in Northern Ireland and haven’t yet been, I’d highly recommend it. We got a cosy little booth which allowed for some great girly chat without having to shout over the top of music or across a large table. It also was perfect as the show was taking place in The Ulster Museum which was just across the room – no one wants to walk too far when you’re in your killer heels, right?! πŸ˜‰

Having got our complimentary drink we made our way to our seats. Was glad I have decided to dress up a little bit…I had spent the day stressing about what to wear /not to wear….in the end I decided to play with fairly safe with a blazer/blouse/pleather combo.

On our seats was a fab wee goodie bag with some lovely wee treats inside – can’t wait to get using and spending some of those!

All we had to do now was wait to see the latest trends on offer at The Outlet, Banbridge, George, Jigsaw, CastleCourt, Argento, M&S, Benetton, Mexx and Next. It is at this point that I wish I had some really good photos to show you all of some of the lovely outfits, but alas I don’t. TheΒ camera on my rather ancient phone wasn’t really up to it 😦 There were some fab pieces of the catwalk, although I have to say United Colours of BenettonΒ came out tops for me. With items that were very ‘wearable’ in gorgeous colours and some simple pieces that could be bought as separates to bring your wardrobe up to date with the key trends. Things that coming up again and again were the pastels, floral prints – mainly darker floralsΒ on dark backgrounds, metallics, neon, large statement necklaces and bags, pleated skirts, distressed denim and the jumpsuit! I am yet to be won over by this item, I just find them so unflattering or something. I just can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is just something about them that just makes me say ‘no’.

So there we go – our night at Belfast Fashion Week summed up. There’s so much more I could say about glitter lips, tight little peaches, bra/no bra, but I’ll keep that for me and the girls πŸ˜‰Β If you haven’t been to Fashion Week before I’d recommend it – we had a really great night out. Thanks to all those involved in the organising and running of it. Off now to do 5000 sit ups and max out the credit card πŸ˜‰

  1. Great to meet you there – apologies there wasn’t much time to chat, things were a little busy! I love Fashion Week to inspire the new season’s wardrobe:)
